Abstract:

The Copernicus marine service provides a comprehensive catalogue for the three states of the ocean - physical, biogeochemical and sea ice. The included in-situ and satellite observations as well as ocean models help authorities and maritime actors to monitor the oceans and foster informed decision-making for a healthy ocean.

This talk will go through the latest features and services of the platform. Particular attention will be placed on the latest development of two thematic hubs of the Copernicus services that could be of great interest for Icelandic communities: the coastal and the arctic hubs. Such hubs will provide fit-for-purpose Earth Observation data in the European Coastal zones or Arctic region from all Copernicus services (marine, land, atmosphere, climate, emergency) from a single access point. Moreover, the capabilities of the service will be enhanced by embedding it in the European Digital Twin of the Ocean, which will support the framework of the EU Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030 and enable the ambition of the European Green Deal.

All are welcome.
